Granlyn Specialist Coatings Have been Liquid Metal UK since June 2012. In fact, Granlyn was the first Metalier distributor and applicator outside New Zealand. Initially the owners of Granlyn were Alison and Craig McDonald. They loved the product, they loved working with it and they were fantastic salespeople to boot. The business has now passed into the safe and experienced hands of Graham O’Neill and his son Ryan. At HQ we’re delighted with the way the mantel has been passed on. A mutual acquaintance in the business said that everything that they touch turns to gold – Metalier gold too. Look at their work (pictured) in The Grand Leicester Hotel.
Liquid Metal UK services Europe too
Granlyn has done and is doing such a grand job in the UK and Ireland that it seemed only sensible and eminently desirable for them to become the hub for Europe and Metalier HQ has appointed Granlyn to this role. We don’t like to think that New Zealand is that far away but in reality we know that it is. The positioning of Granlyn as Metalier’s Second in Command in Europe makes Metalier’s systems much more accessible to the European market.
Liquid Metal UK & Europe Training
Granlyn’s premises and training centre are located in West Bromwich in the West Midlands. West Bromwich is part of greater Birmingham and is conveniently placed for a training school – an hour in the train from London and you’re there. Accommodation costs are not as high as in London either. The Granlyn technicians conduct 2-day training courses which cover all you need to know about the application of Metalier. The courses are reasonably priced and are very popular and you need to book in advance. Email Graham or telephone him to inquire when the next course is taking place and whether there are any places available. Once you’ve found Metalier you’ll want to get on with working with it as soon as possible.
Training is recommended for all applicators, even ones experienced with other liquid metals. The Metalier water-based liquid metal system is unique. You’ll have to unlearn a whole lot of things you had to do with the solvent. And – just imagine – there’s no horrible solvent smell. Bliss we think!
